Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have an office?

We don’t currently have a public office as Karlee works out of her home. If someone needs to get physical documents to her, we can make arrangements. We primarily operate remotely to keep overhead costs down which in turn allows us to provide more affordable services.

Can you change my banking information?

Anyone who requests to have banking information changed, we can do it through CRA on your behalf. However, we will never request that information from you or ask you to send it via email. We only use forms we’ve designed and encrypted.

How do we make payments?

We prefer e-transfer. You will be provided an email and instructions on the invoice you receive through our Quickbooks. We haven’t setup payments through Quickbooks or Squarespace because it either charges the clients additional fees or we pay them out of pocket. So to keep our pricing as affordable as possible we are opting out of these additional fees. We will never ask for payment via Amazon gift cards. Payments will be discussed via phone call if there are any issues.

What do I do if I can’t pay my bill right away?

For Bookkeeping clients we allow 30 days to pay their invoice, but we can have a verbal discussion on time frames especially if you have seasonal influxes in revenue.

For Personal Taxes we understand that you may need to wait until your tax refund comes through. You will receive your invoice right after you’ve signed and approved your taxes for e-filing, but you won’t see a reminder for about 6 weeks. I cannot provide Personal Tax clients with any additional services until their bill is paid.

Clients who are overdue by 6 months will be removed from the client list and will not be provided any additional services in the future.

Why doesn’t your Invoice have a GST number?

As this is our first year providing regular services, we are operating as a sole proprietorship. Just like every other business, our first $30,000 in revenue in a Fiscal tax year is GST exempt. After that we will be required to charge GST on revenue above that, and then on any amounts the following years. When that day comes we will definitely be shedding some tears on the tax bill we will be receiving :’).

What do you do with all the files provided through Dropbox?

Any and all files will be stripped from Dropbox in July of each year after completing all the Personal Tax returns. They are stripped and stored on an external hard-drive and locked away. We do this as a hacking precaution, while still ensuring we can retrieve any information that may be needed in the future.
